The beginning
The winery has been established in 1996 in Öreghegy, Etyek by Carlos Coelho who is originally from Argentina but also feels at home in California and Hungary. It was named after Ágoston Haraszthy, the father of Californian wine culture, who made an example of successfully combining traditional values with a modern approach. Over the last two and a half decades we have made and are still making our characteristic wines bearing this philosophy in mind with the guidance of our winemaker, Dániel Pázmányi.

We currently farm 123 hectares, making Haraszthy Winery the second largest in the Etyek-Buda wine region. Nearly 10% of our areas are located in Öreghegy, Etyek, in the immediate vicinity of our winery. We harvest our vineyard-selected wines named after Öreghegy and the base wine of our premium champagne from here. The rest of our plantations are located in Vál, where we mostly work with newly planted grapes. The Love statue is also located here, which inspired our Love series.
Vál has a particularly important place in the life of our winery: our goal is to put the estates completely in order with constant attention and work: to replace missing grapevines, replant the old areas and create new plantations, also focusing on sustainable development.
In addition to the traditional Hungarian varieties of Etyek, we also locally develop the main grape varieties of Burgundy. We grow mostly irsai olivér, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and pinot noir, as well as szürkebarát, királyleányka and zenit for blending.

Our belief is that unique, characteristic wines can be made by combining modern technology with traditional processes.
We process with a modern and gentle method, grape picking is preceded by sorting, then after pressing, our wines are fermented with controlled technology. Only casein-free treatments are used during our procedures.
We produced 350 000 bottles of wine in 2021. Our offer has been compiled to be exciting and unique for everyone interested to try.
Bottles of the Love and Etyek series are made with the reductive method. They are light but well-structured wines. Common characteristics are freshness, primary aroma richness and liveliness.
Wines of the Premium and Fantástico series are only produced in outstanding years, from selected quality grapes. Usually, they become mature enough to consume by the age of 3 years.
Our assortment includes products from our sister wineries in California and Argentina.
